Sunday 21st May - Chesterfield Team Comp

We got Back from Canada on the Wednesday and on the Sunday, me, Danni and Caitlin joined 2 other  gymnasts from Arabian  Emily and Naho to Compete in a team competition up in Chesterfield. We started on bars which went quite good, then we went to beam and I had 1 fall and was a bit wobbly. (Not my best routine!) Anyway floor was next which went really well considering the floor was extremely dead! Our last piece was vault and we all performed quite powerful and clean vaults. Me, Danni and Caitlin was still really tired but helped gain the team a silver medal. "If someone had  said to me last year that in May 2006 I would do 4 Competitions in 4 weeks I would of thought that they were mad for even thinking  that I would ever train again let alone compete!"

More on the Canada Trip!

(pictures to come off the trip) As well as competing and training we did a lot of sight seeing, which was great and shopping of course! We went up the CN Tower (on the left) which is the tallest tower in the world, where we saw some amazing views. We also went to Niagara Falls which was a great experience. We went on a lift behind the falls which was fantastic we got soaking. We also went bowling 3 times ( I won once... I think!) and Alan and Donna both got a bowling bowl made which was quite interesting to watch. We also went shopping, we went to both of the Malls in Burlington  and Went to Toronto which was massive. This trip was a great experience and a great big thank you to Alan and Donna who were not just our coaches but also took us places and looked after us. Thanks

Sunday 14th May Gold In Canada!

Today I had another competition but instead of doing all 4 pieces you had to pair up with another gymnast and you both do 2 pieces each. I paired up with Morgan from Bermuda and she did Vault and Bars and I did Beam and Floor. We did level 8, (which for me was a level higher than what I competed yesterday) and competed in the 13+ category. The oldest person in this competition was 23! We started on Bars and Morgan did a really nice bar routine and came 9th. Beam, my 1st piece I started really well, but had a major wobble on my acro-connection but still stayed on. The rest of my routine was strong and I came 5th. Then moved onto my last piece which was floor, it  went really well, my tumbles were strong and I showed off my dance. My score was 9.45 out of 10. I came 1st. When they called my name out in the presentation I was really shocked and I had a smile from ear to ear. "when I went into this competition I didn't expect to get any were because, I'm not training a lot and I'm just doing it to enjoy it. I am so pleased that I did start gym again because now I'm having fun and still doing well!" We then moved onto our last piece Vault where Morgan performed a good, powerful vault and came 9th. Overall our Me and morgan as a pair came 9th. Which I thought was really good.

Burlington Spring Cup Saturday 13th May

Canada was a really good experience and a very enjoyable trip. We did so much in the 7 days we were there, but we only had 2 hours training session on the Thursday before the competition  to get used to the equipment. I competed on two days . On the Saturday I competed in level 7 in the  14+ age group. I was competing against clubs from all over Canada, America, Isle of Man and Bermuda!  I started on bars, which went ok but it wasn't  my strong piece but I came  9th,  beam went well a strong and confident routine got me 5th place, floor went quite well. I enjoyed doing my floor routine, my tumbles were good and I gained 6th place. Finally onto Vault, warm-up was a nightmare because they had to vaults competing but only one yurchenco block and mat so I only got 2 warm ups, but my vaults were ok and I came 7th. Overall I came 9th. They gave out medals for 1st, 2nd and 3rd and they gave out ribbons for 4th  - 10th place so I got ribbons on all the pieces. I think I did really  well considering I only train a couple of hours a week and still had a slight  back problem. "As long as I carry on enjoying gymnastics I'm happy!"

Roses Competition - Sunday 30th April

Today I competed in my first competition in 2 1/ 2 years and I really enjoyed it! The Roses competition was an invitational, Arabian was the host club and had invited clubs from all over the country. I competed in the hardest rose which was called the Mary rose and I competed on Vault, Bars, Beam and on the Roses challenge. I got gold on all 4! In this competition floor routines were not performed it was just tumble, but as I and 2 other gymnasts are going to Canada we performed are floor routines to the crowd as a run out for Canada. They went ok. It was a great weekend because Arabian had the Club championships on Saturday which I coached all day at, and then the Roses today. Today I only coached in the morning. I did really well considering I was really tired.

2 Competitions in Canada!

In Canada I am competing on Saturday 13thy May in all 4 pieces and on the Sunday 14th May. I am competing in a pairs competition in a level higher. I am paring up with a gymnast from Bermuda. This will be a great experience competing with a gymnast from another country. In the pairs competition i do 2 pieces which are beam and floor and the other gymnast does vault and bars.

Canada Trip on! Me, Danni, Caitlin are going to Canada to compete in the Burlington Spring Cup 2006. While we are there we will train in a local gym for 3 days and then compete on the 13th May. We will also go to the Niagara Falls which should be fun. I think this trip will be really good and I'm really looking forward to competing again!

December 2005

I have started Gym again!!!! I  started gymnastics again purely for fun and enjoyment. I train 2 times a week at Arabian Gym club after coaching. I train for a total of 4-5 hours a week and I also coach 8 hours a week which is great. On Tuesday I train with Alan's squad for 3 hours and on Friday I train for 1 1/2 hours in Adult gym. I do not intend to compete at a high level, I just want to have fun and see what moves I can still do!  I love training it's a very relaxed style, I really like re-learning some of the moves I used to do but sometimes it can get quite frustrating when it doesn't go to plan!

"I am really pleased that I have started again because when I gave up, I would of never thought in two years time that I would of started gym again at all!" I started coaching at Arabian and Alan the head coach of Arabian gym and my mentor coach  kept trying to persuade me just to join in adult gym but I wasn't having none of it. Then suddenly one day I just decided that I would like to train again. Everyone was shocked, even me!

 15th November 2005

I passed my Assistant club coach exam, and I now coach ages 8-12 year olds. I think it's great! I coach with Alan and along side a great team!

September 2004

I now coach at Arabian school of gymnastics, which is 2 minutes a way from my house. I love coaching because you see it from the other side! Also I love learning new things..
